EnerGuide Home Evaluation

What is an EnerGuide Rating System?

The EnerGuide rating system (ERS) is a national program managed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). This is the standard in measuring the energy efficiency of homes and it is also used in many other energy efficiency programs across Canada. We are licensed to deliver the ERS Version 15 for existing homes. Our mandate is to provide homeowners independent 3rd party energy efficiency advice, in their efforts to make their homes more energy efficient.  An ERS home evaluation can be your first step in reducing your home’s carbon footprint, improve home comfort, save on utility bills. The less greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions we put out, the easier it will be to balance out – through various green initiatives –  what GHG emissions will inevitably still be putting out.

Construction Services

We also provide a comprehensive air leakage locating service. This service is ideal for homeowners looking to increase the air tightness of their home. This can be for an existing home or an existing home undergoing extensive renovation. This service is ideal for a homeowner before they engage an air barriers professional to seal up those areas of air leakages. Reducing your leakage is perhaps one of the single most effective way to improve the energy efficiency of your home. Although we are not home inspectors at GIEC, your home inspector will likely agree that air leakage has detrimental effects to the integrity of your house envelope. To locate areas of air leakage around your house envelop, we use our blower door equipment and smoke pens.
